BRIO is an initiative whose objective is to develop a new sustainable model for the management and recycling of end-of-life wind turbine rotor blades. The project is led by IBERDROLA Ingeniería y Construcción and participated by the technological centres GAIKER-IK4 and TECNALIA Research & Innovation.
The recycling of these large structures has been focused on the mechanical recovery of their material resources to be recycled later on as secondary raw materials in products for the construction and building sector.
BRIO has a budget over one million of euro and it is co-funding by the European Union’s LIFE+ Program under grant agreement LIFE13 ENV/ES/000562 (www.lifebrio.eu).
